New Cousin Chase

Our cousin Chase is finally home from the hospital after a very rough start. He is a little miracle! Alex and Jared were excited to meet him for the first time!

Last blog before bed...

Last of the summer updates. Jeff painted my dining room (thanks honey)! I feel like a grown up now with my own dining room (thanks to Grandma Lueddecke for the furniture). We labored over Labor day weekend and painted the great room, foyer, hall and stairwell.

We also welcomed our newest cousin, Chase Michael in August. Boys finally got to visit Chase last week. Pictures to come.... I'm ready for sleep.

Pinewood Derby

April

March is over! Hard to believe. We had a fun and busy month.

Started out with the Pinewood Derby with Cub Scouts. Alex placed 15. My pictures didn't turn out all that great, but I will post a few.

Alex has been taking ice skating lessons at the Rec Plex. He and Jeff have gone to practice a few times. He is enjoying it but I don't think he will go beyond level one (we will see).

Alex, Jared and I spent a week battling some illness (which I still think is the flu). Alex missed 3 days of school. Alex did some wheezing and was put on a steriod. (may him moody). Jared ran fevers (he is my fever son).

March 18, Jared turned four and we are struggling to get him potty trained. It will happen eventually, right?!?! We celebrated his birthday dinner at O'Charleys (I kind of talked him into it). He and Alex are having a combined party next month. Theme to be determined. Jared had his 4 year check up and shots. He is ready for school (except for the potty training...)

Alex's school celebrated the Feast of St. Joseph on March 19. Jeff, Grandpa Lueddecke and Great-Grandpa Doerhoff attended mass with Alex. Alex participated with the choir.

The Cub Scouts visited the Mid Rivers Animal Shelter March 23. We learned a lot and saw some interesting rescued dogs. Alex & I did a bit of sneezing on that trip.

For our March Pack meeting, we had a cake walk. There were a ton of cute ideas. Alex and I (Jared helped too) made a race track cake. It was a popular idea (3 other people did the same).

Basement work has moved slowly while Grandpa went to Florida. The boys toy room is drywalled. Work will resume this weekend.

February Happenings

Hey! As February draws to a close. I thought I'd update my blog. This month we attended the train show and the boys enjoyed looking at all the trains. Alex particularly liked the Lego train and has started his own version in his room. Jared had surgery on Friday the 13th to repair a bilateral hernia and is doing well. The cub scouts visited a bank. I think they hoped for some free $ samples and a vault like those in the movies.

Basement work is moving along.
Here is the bar. It looks like a shop vac, but use your imagination.

Closure

Hey. Thought I would share a bit on my quest for answers/closure. I visited the reproductive endocrinologist last week. She is running some additional blood work, put Jeff and I on an antibiotic and wants to do an ultrasound of my uterus after my next cycle.

My OBGYN called Monday with the pathology report on my latest loss. It was positive for Turner's syndrome. It is disorder of the X chromosome affecting females. The most common chromosomal cause of miscarriage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turner%27s_syndrome This answers questions about this latest loss. The reproductive endocrinologist said I had a 1% chance of it happening again. I still wonder about the loss last summer. It was so similar to this recent one. Can my odds be that bad?

I am working at getting healthy but McDonalds tends to get in my way. I joined a Big Loser Challenge on momslikeme.com It runs Feb 1 to May 1. Jeff and I are also giving up fast food for Lent. I need motivation.

Thanks for listening.

Can you believe it is February?

Happy February! Hope everyone is keeping warm. I can't believe how fast January flew by. We attended All Saints Trivia Night over the weekend and placed third. Our table grumbles cause they only pay out for first place. A fun time was had by all.

Jared has a new obsession- Superman. It started when TNT played Superman Returns last week. I proceeded to borrow Superman 1 and 2 with Christopher Reeve from the library after he expressed such an interest. He and Alex love to wear their Superman jamies. Jared flys around his Superman figure singing the John Williams theme "Da da da da daaa da da da".

Speaking of Jared (and Jeff) obsessions, the Great Train Expo is in town this weekend at the St. Charles Convention Center. http://www.greattrainexpo.com/ We plan to attend.

We visited a pediatric surgeon this week for Jared. He developed a sudden-onset hydrocele in November (when he passed out at school and scared his teachers to death). It hasn't gone away. He is at risk for a hernia. We are going to have it repaired on Friday the 13th. We're counting on 13 remaining Jeff's lucky number.

Maybe I need to rename this entry- All about Jared???

Basement building continued

Here are the beginnings of the built in
Alex and Jared test out the potty
We have plumbing!

The basement is coming along. We hope to drywall by mid to end of February. I wanted a bone colored toilet (to match the others) Now we can't find a bone colored vanity. Does anyone have any places to look (besides Home Depot and Lowe's)?

Resolutions

I've been struggling with trying to eat better and exercise more ever since I had Jared (which will be 4 years ago in about 8 weeks). I've had lots of opportunities and also lots of excuses. I am motivated now. I am using the Weight Watchers system and joining a gym with a friend for some consistent exercise. My goal is to have my pre-children body back this summer.

I have an apt with the reproductive endocrinologist next Monday. Maybe it will provide me with some answers about my losses in the past year. I feel I need to get healthy before we decide if we will try again.

Hey!

Thanks to everyone for all their prayers and support in this difficult time. I thank God everyday for all He has given me. It is hard for me to understand why these things happen but I know I will one day.

Jared and I spent the morning building train tracks and playing with the Wii fit. Austin came over after preschool. He and Jared are now playing army men. It is good to get back into our routine.
