Self Improvement

My hubby and me in 2000
I am beginning a journey of self improvement, again.  I just can bring myself to slap "Weight Loss" on the top of this page. I will be turning 37 years young in May. My goal is to get back to some semblance of my old body.

I used to work 40 hours a week as a floor nurse, literally running my butt off for 8 to 12 hours a day. After I had my first child, I went to a part time "desk job". I was a little heavier than before I had him, but a youthful metabolism and breast feeding helped out at the time.

After I had my second son, I hit the big 3-0! It had been a difficult pregnancy and I had been on bedrest.  I was dealing with a newborn and 3 year old and lost some of my pregnancy weight, but a lot stuck around.  I joined Weight Watchers with a friend and lost a bit more, but it was hard.

I lost three pregnancies between 2008 and 2009. I gained a little weight with each, and these pounds added up.  I was depressed and it was very difficult to get motivated to lose the weight.

I left my desk job and in the winter of 2010, I found myself pregnant for the sixth time in my life.  I was nervous and afraid we would lose another. After a stressful and difficult pregnancy, we ended up with a beautiful third son.

I need to begin my journey of self improvement and stay with it, even if I hit bumps in the road.  I have a family history of cancer, diabetes, heart disease....  I am going to blog my progress each week to help keep myself accountable.
